MasterMac Honda’s Rhys Irwin registered his first points of the season as the ZYN British Superbike Championship visited Donington over the weekend.

The young Irishman is making his debut in the series and it didn’t take long for him to make his mark on the standings, picking up points for a 13th place finish in the final race of round two.

The result came in what turned into a war of attrition as several riders crashed out at the high speed Midlands circuit.

It was a reward for a steady weekend for Irwin, who came home in P16 and P17 in the earlier races.

Eugene McManus, his teammate and fellow ZYN BSB rookie, also continues to adapt to the class and picked up P19 in race two, although he was unfortunate in having to retire from the other two races.

Meanwhile MasterMac Honda’s Dan Brooks was also in action at Donington, competing in the Pirelli National Superstock championship.

He rode impressively in changeable wet conditions to take a P15 finish from P20 on the grid, making it two points-finishes out of two in 2026.

Steve Hicken, MasterMac Honda’s team manager, said:

“I’m really pleased for Rhys to open his account in the championship. The points are a deserved reward for the work he’s putting into getting to grips with the superbike, and for the whole team involved in getting the bikes out on track.
“Eugene had some bad luck over the weekend but every lap he’s doing will help to build his knowledge and confidence for the season ahead.
“Dan rode really well in the superstock race again, in really tricky weather that was a real test for the riders. He’s proving he’s a talented rider and there’s good reason to believe he can move further up the field as the season goes on.”

ZYN BSB now takes a break for a month before the action resumes at Knockhill in Scotland from 19-21 June.
