MasterMac Honda’s Charlie Nesbitt hit form with two excellent rides in the latest round of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship.

The 24-year-old qualified fourth for the first of three races at Thruxton, then battled to the front after the lights went out to lead for several laps before eventually finishing sixth.

After picking up P10 in a quieter second race, he was again fighting hard amongst the lead group before taking a season’s best fifth in the last race of the weekend.

Meanwhile his teammate John McPhee finished just outside the points in each race, while their MasterMac Honda stablemate Dan Brooks sealed a P11 and a P12 in the Pirelli National Superstock series.

Steve Hicken, team manager, said:

“Huge credit to Charlie for putting together a great series of rides over the weekend.
“He was strong in qualifying and then set a fast pace at the front in race one. His ride in the third race was even better, staying with the lead group for the full 20 laps and finishing less than a second behind the leader.
“It’s also moved him back into the top ten in the overall standings, which is a welcome boost for Charlie and the whole team as we head to the next round.”

The team will be back in action over August bank holiday when Bennetts BSB continues at Cadwell Park in Lincolnshire.
