MasterMac Honda’s British Superbike Championship campaign drew to a close over the weekend - and it was a case of so near, yet so far for young rider Charlie Nesbitt.

The 24-year-old produced a brilliant ride in the final race of the season at Brands Hatch, climbing to second place and challenging for the lead in testing wet conditions.

But sadly he slid out off the track with just two laps remaining to be denied a possible win and his best result of the season.

Nesbitt did though seal fifth place with another great ride in the second race, as well as climbing from 15th on the grid to finish eighth in the weekend opener.

His teammate John McPhee closed out the season with two more finishes in the points over the weekend, and that secured him the R&G Rising Stars Trophy for 2025 as the best-performing rookie in Bennetts BSB.

Dan Brooks also picked up two points finishes representing the team in the Pirelli National Superstock Championship, before thankfully emerging unscathed from a fall in the final race.

Steve Hicken, team manager, commented:

“Charlie came really close to giving us all a truly memorable end to the season. Although it didn’t quite work out that way, he can take huge confidence in how he closed down the leader and looked like he belonged there.
“Meanwhile it was great to see John pick up the Rising Stars Trophy as it’s no mean feat to make the switch to Bennetts BSB the way he has this year.
“Charlie, John and Dan have all worked hard and produced some strong results for the team over the course of the season, but of course it’s a team effort so I’d also like to thank everyone else involved.
“The crew have worked incredibly hard as ever and we’re hugely grateful to all of our sponsors and everyone else who’s supported us through the year.
“We look forward to seeing you back at trackside in 2026.”

Another action-packed Bennetts BSB season will commence at Oulton Park next May Day Bank Holiday weekend.
